An IPR (Interproximal Reduction) handpiece is a specialized, low-speed 4:1 reduction dental contra-angle used in orthodontics to safely and precisely remove small amounts of enamel (0.1–0.5 mm) between teeth.
It uses reciprocating or oscillating motions with diamond-coated strips to create space for aligning crowded teeth, often used with aligners or braces.
