They are essential for preventing wires from “walking” or sliding out of brackets, especially when using self-ligating systems, and for managing space by activating components like open coil springs

• Space Management: Often placed against compression springs to create or maintain space between teeth.
• Versatile Design: Most stops feature an “open-wall” or “split” design, allowing them to be placed on the wire without having to remove the entire archwire from the mouth.
